Fire breaks out at cracker shop in Bengaluru, 13 dead

According to the police, the firecracker shop belongs to a person named Naveen. Bengaluru Rural SP Mallikarjun Baladandi said the fire incident occurred at Balaji firecracker shop when crackers were being unloaded from a canter.

At least 13 people were burnt to death in a fire at a firecracker shop-cum-warehouse on the outskirts of Bengaluru. Fourteen people managed to escape before the fire broke out in the shop located at Attibele in Anekal taluka. Crackers worth crores of rupees were burnt to ashes in the incident. Three four-wheelers and four bikes were also burnt in the fire. Emergency services along with fire engines reached the spot and brought the fire under control.

Former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai condoled the death, saying he was shocked to learn that 13 workers were burnt alive in the Anekal firecracker shop tragedy. He said, “May his soul rest in peace. The government should take precautionary measures. Appropriate action should be ordered to find out the truth behind this. “Action should be taken against the accused and compensation should be given to the families of the deceased.”

Within no time the fire spread to the warehouse and stall. He said, “Two people have been injured and the owner Naveen has also sustained burn injuries. The FSL team will evaluate and we are checking the license of the firecracker shop.”
