A car in the convoy of former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference (NC) leader Farooq Abdullah on Friday collided with a Nilgai on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Dausa district.

A police officer gave this information. He said that in the accident, Delhi Police constable Pappu Ram Meena, deployed for Abdullah’s security, was injured. The officer said that the accident took place near the road made to get down from the expressway in Bhandarej at around 1:45 pm on Friday. Abdullah was going to Ajmer, although he was in another vehicle. Four policemen including Meena were in the accident vehicle.

Havaldar Arvind Kumar of Sadar police station said, “The injured policeman was taken to the district hospital, where he was discharged after giving first aid.” He said that as soon as the accident happened, other vehicles including the vehicle carrying Abdullah stopped, although the members of the security team left for Ajmer in another vehicle of the convoy.

In Ajmer, Abdullah visited the shrine of Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti. He also prayed for the well-being of Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, who was stabbed at his home in Mumbai.

“I prayed for peace, harmony and progress in the country and for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The people of Jammu and Kashmir should come out of the difficult times they have been going through for the last 10 years,” Abdullah told reporters in Ajmer.

“I also prayed for Saif Ali Khan, who was attacked. Thankfully, he survived and I pray that he gets well soon and such things do not happen in our country,” he said.
