Drunk Delhi Woman Held For Hitting Police Constable With Car In Delhi’s Rohini

A senior police officer said the woman has been identified as Aarti Jain, a resident of Sector-16, Rohini. The officer added that the woman was sitting in the driver’s seat and appeared to be intoxicated.

A 40-year-old woman in an inebriated state rammed her car into a police barricade in the Shahbad Dairy area on the outskirts of Delhi, injuring a constable on duty, police said.

The woman has been arrested, police added.

They said the incident occurred on the night of December 24 when police had set up a temporary checkpoint as part of routine checks.

Police said they received a call on Wednesday night informing them that a white car had hit a policeman stationed at the checkpoint and that a woman was found sitting inside the car in a drunken state.

Upon reaching the spot, police found that a car had rammed into the barricade set up at the checkpoint.

A senior police officer said the woman was identified as Aarti Jain, a resident of Sector-16, Rohini. The officer said she was sitting in the driver’s seat and appeared to be intoxicated.

He said the injured constable, Rohit, of the 1st Battalion of the Delhi Armed Police, was admitted to Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital in Rohini.

The officer said the constable’s condition is stable.

He said a case has been registered under charges of rash driving and endangering the life or personal safety of others.

Police said the woman has been arrested and the car has been seized.

They said the accused woman works in the private sector and was returning home after attending a birthday party when the incident occurred.

Police said further legal action will be taken based on the medical and forensic reports.
