Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi on Thursday targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the demolition of the house of ‘rat hole miner’ lawyer Hasan during the anti-encroachment campaign of Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and accused it of harassing and humiliating the poor. This is the truth of BJP’s ‘injustice period’. The Congress leader also said that the public will definitely respond to this injustice.
DDA on Wednesday launched an anti-encroachment drive in Khajuri Khas area of Delhi in which many houses were demolished. Among those made homeless by this DDA campaign is lawyer Hasan, who was honored for rescuing 41 workers trapped in the Silkyara tunnel of Uttarkashi with his team in November last year. Lawyer Hasan is a ‘rat hole miner’ (tunnel digger) by profession.
While sharing the video of lawyer Hasan’s wife, Priyanka Gandhi posted on ‘X’, “Lawyer Hasan had saved the lives of the laborers trapped in the tunnel in Uttarkashi by risking his life. Then, for their publicity, big BJP leaders had got photographs clicked with him. When the campaign was over, today the same lawyer Hasan was locked in the police station and his house was demolished and the roof was taken away from the heads of his children.
The Congress leader said, “Demolishing the houses of the poor, crushing them, torturing and humiliating them – this injustice is the truth of BJP’s ‘Ayayakal’.”
The Congress leader said that the public will definitely respond to this injustice.
