दिल्ली: प्रदूषण के खिलाफ प्रदर्शन के मामले में नक्सलवाद-आतंकवाद के समर्थन के आरोप लगा कर अब तक 22 गिरफ्तार

Protesting at India Gate against the alarming pollution in the capital, Delhi, has backfired. Taking strict action, the Delhi Police have arrested 22 protesters so far. They have also been accused of supporting Naxalism and terrorism. FIRs have been registered in two separate police stations: Kartavyapath and Sansad Marg.

According to reports, the Kartavyapath police station arrested six male protesters, while the Sansad Marg police station FIR lists 17 individuals arrested. The Kartavyapath police station FIR invokes several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including disturbing public peace, violating government orders, and other law and order offenses. The Sansad Marg police station FIR alleges various offenses, including disturbing public order and damaging government property.

The police maintain that the protest was not solely about pollution, but also involved slogans supporting Naxalism and terrorism. When the police removed the protesters from the C-Hexagon area near India Gate, they gathered directly outside the Parliament Street police station. There, they blocked the police station gate and the road to the DCP’s office, preventing anyone from entering or exiting.

The police allege that when attempts were made to remove them, several protesters became aggressive. They attacked the police and began rolling on the ground and thrashing their hands and legs, resulting in injuries. Later, when the police detained them and asked for their identities, none of them provided proper information. Instead, they began making false allegations against the police. On Monday, the police produced six accused in the Patiala House Court, where the court remanded five of them to two-day judicial custody and ordered one to be kept in a safe house.
