Death toll in Uttar Pradesh’s Kasganj accident reaches 24, includes 8 women and 7 children

A major accident took place in Kasganj district of Uttar Pradesh on Saturday. A tractor trolley filled with devotees overturned in the pond in Daryaganj of Patiali police station area. 24 people including 7 children died in the accident. More than three dozen devotees were traveling in the tractor trolley. All these devotees were returning after taking bath in Ganga at Kadarganj Ghat. A major accident occurred when the tractor trolley suddenly overturned. After the incident, senior police officials including DM and SP are present on the spot.
The police team and local people reached the spot and admitted the injured to the community health center of the district. The bodies were taken out from the accident site. Relief and rescue operations were carried out. Regarding the accident, eyewitnesses say that as soon as the tractor trolley overturned, there was screams. A large number of women and children were traveling in the trolley.
8 women and 7 children among the dead
Local people said that the dead included 8 women and 7 children. The injured were first admitted to the community health center of the district. Seeing the critical condition of some devotees, they were referred to another hospital. After the incident, the victim’s family members are in bad condition, crying continuously.
Chief Minister Adityanath gave these instructions
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed deep sorrow over the Kasganj road accident. He has expressed condolences to the bereaved family. The CM has asked Cabinet Minister Lakshmi Narayan Choudhary and Minister of State Anup Pradhan Valmiki to immediately reach the spot and expedite relief operations. Also, instructions have been given to the district administration officials to provide proper treatment to the injured.
Announcement of compensation to the relatives of the deceased and the injured
Kasganj DM Sudha Verma said that 30 people were traveling in the tractor trolley. 24 people have died. The injured are being treated. Some more people are feared to be trapped in the swamp of the pond. Therefore, relief and rescue operations are currently being carried out. He has also announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs 50 thousand to the injured.
