Container stuck at railway crossing, goods train dragged it for 100 meters

A major accident took place on the Lucknow-Sultanpur railway track in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday morning. Near Nihalgarh, a truck broke the railway gate and came on the track and collided with the goods train coming at the same time. In this accident, the engine of the goods train, OHE, electric line, pole and barricading were damaged. According to the information, the truck was dragged along with the goods train for about 100 meters. The driver of the truck was seriously injured in the accident. He has been sent to the hospital for treatment.

After the accident, the Lucknow-Sultanpur-Varanasi railway track was completely disrupted. All the trains passing on the track stopped where they were. Railway employees have started the work of repairing the damaged railway line and removing the truck from the track. Officials of Northern Railway Division Lucknow and Railway Safety and Security Team are present on the spot, which is working to restore traffic.

Due to this accident, there is a huge jam on both sides of the Rae Bareli-Ayodhya highway. The route has been diverted to reduce the jam. Vehicles coming from Ayodhya are being diverted to Lucknow-Varanasi highway via Raniganj to Warisganj. At the same time, vehicles going to Ayodhya Dham from Rae Bareli, Sultanpur and Pratapgarh are being stopped at Jagdishpur intersection and Shriramganj intersection and allowed to pass through other routes.

Efforts are on by the railway and traffic department to repair the track and remove the jam on the road. Lucknow DRM S.M. Sharma said that a truck was stuck at the railway crossing gate, then a freight train came, which collided with it. It is the fault of the truck driver, he got stuck in the middle. He said that no railway employee was harmed in this incident. The accident is under investigation.
