Coach of Amritsar-Saharsa Garib Rath Express catches fire in Punjab

A fire suddenly broke out on the Amritsar-Saharsa Garib Rath (12204, Bihar-bound) train. Passengers were alarmed when the fire engulfed two or three AC coaches. A female passenger was burned in the fire.

A fire broke out in a coach of train number 12204 (Amritsar-Saharsa Garib Rath Express) at Sirhind Junction (SIR) in Punjab on Saturday morning. The incident occurred at 7:30 am.

The Ambala DRM shared the information on his official social media handle (X). The situation was brought under control due to the prompt action of railway staff and local authorities. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident.

According to information received, the railway administration immediately responded to the incident. Passengers in the affected coach were safely shifted to other coaches. A joint team of railway and fire brigade personnel brought the fire under control quickly. Preliminary investigations have not revealed the cause of the fire, but railway officials have launched a thorough investigation into the matter.

According to the Ambala DRM, after the fire was extinguished, the train departed for its destination, Saharsa, as soon as the fire was extinguished. The railway took all necessary steps to ensure the safety of passengers. After repairs and safety checks, the train was ready for onward travel. The Railways has appealed to passengers for patience and regrets any inconvenience.
