Classical Singer Pandit Chhannulal Mishra Passes Away at 91

Renowned Indian classical singer Pandit Chhannulal Mishra died on Thursday morning in Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh, at the age of 91. He had been ill for some time.

Renowned classical singer and Padma Award-winning artist Pandit Chhannulal Mishra has passed away at the age of 89. He breathed his last at 4:15 a.m. on Thursday in Mirzapur. He had been ill for a long time. He was admitted to BHU a few days ago but was discharged after his condition improved. His daughter Namrata announced her father’s death, stating that he was at home in Mirzapur. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences.

Where will Chhannulal’s funeral be held?

Pandit Chhannulal’s body arrived in Varanasi from Mirzapur on Thursday morning. People will be able to pay their last respects during the day, and his last rites will be performed in Varanasi at 7 p.m.

Admitted to the ICU a few days ago

Pandit Chhannulal Mishra was admitted to the ICU of Sir Sunder Lal Hospital at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in Varanasi from Mirzapur in September due to a chest infection. Pandit Chhannulal Mishra suffered a minor attack. Following this, he was admitted to the ICU at BHU. Investigations revealed a chest infection and anemia.

Daughter reported Chhannulal’s health condition

His daughter Namrata stated that during his treatment in Mirzapur, doctors referred him to Sir Sunder Lal Hospital at Banaras Hindu University. He was discharged from the hospital after his health improved.

Pandit Chhannulal was also admitted to the Mirzapur hospital

He was also undergoing treatment for hemoglobin deficiency and skin problems. A team of specialist doctors, led by Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, Principal of Maa Vindhyavasini Medical College, was monitoring Mishra’s health. Blood and urine tests revealed low hemoglobin. After his discharge from BHU, his family took him back to Mirzapur. He was admitted to the Ramakrishna Seva Mission Hospital in Ojhalapul, where he underwent further evaluation.

Chhannulal had a special connection with PM Modi

It should be noted that Pandit Chhannulal had a special connection with PM Modi. He had been PM Modi’s proposer for elections. When PM Modi contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Varanasi, Chhannulal Mishra was his proposer. Pandit Chhannulal was awarded the Padma Bhushan by the UPA government in 2010. The Akhilesh Yadav government in Uttar Pradesh also honored him with the Yash Bharti Award.
