A fire broke out in a building in China’s Shanxi province on Thursday, killing 26 people and sending dozens to hospital, state media reported. The fire broke out at about 6:50 a.m. local time (2250 GMT on Wednesday) at the four-story building of the Yongju Coal Company in Luliang city of Shanxi province, state media reported, citing local officials. Twenty-six people have been confirmed dead, state news agency Xinhua reports.
How did the accident happen?
China’s government media gave this information. The fire broke out at around 6:50 a.m. on the second floor of a five-story building located in the Lishi district of Luliang City, state news agency Xinhua said. 26 people died and more than 60 were injured in the fire. The injured were sent to the local hospital for treatment. Global Times newspaper reported that the fire has been brought under control. Rescue efforts are ongoing.
