On the occasion of opening the doors, thousands of devotees were present in the temple premises who were chanting ‘Jai Badri Vishal’. The temple has been decorated with 15 quintals of flowers and after opening the doors, special prayers were performed.

After remaining closed for 6 months, the doors of Badrinath Dham in Uttarakhand were opened for the devotees on Sunday morning and with this the journey to the four Dhams started. The doors of the other three Dhams – Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri, known as Chardham of Garhwal Himalaya, were opened on Friday itself on the festival of Akshaya Tritiya.
According to the Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee, the doors of the Badrinath temple located in Chamoli district were opened at six in the morning at the prescribed time amidst full rituals and chanting of Vedic mantras. On this occasion, thousands of devotees were present in the temple premises who were chanting ‘Jai Badri Vishal’. The temple has been decorated with 15 quintals of flowers and after opening the doors, special prayers were performed.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami congratulated all the devotees on the occasion of opening of doors. The process of opening the doors of Badrinath Dham started at 4 am in the Brahma Muhurta. Amidst light rain, the traditional music and dance of local women to the tune of army band and drums enthralled the devotees.
First Kuber ji, Uddhav ji and Gadu Ghada were brought into the temple premises from the south gate, then the chief priest of the temple Rawal Ishwar Prasad Namboodiri and other officials, temple committee chairman Ajendra Ajay, Chamoli District Magistrate Himanshu Khurana, presence of pilgrim priests and devotees. The doors of the temple were opened with rituals.
After this, Rawal performed special worship of Lord Badrinath in the sanctum sanctorum. A day before the opening of the doors of the temple, a crowd of devotees started gathering in Badrinath. After Gangotri, Yamunotri and Kedarnath, now with the opening of the doors of Badrinath, the doors of all the four Dhams have opened and the Chardham Yatra has started completely.
Last year, a record 18,39,591 devotees had reached Badrinath for darshan and seeing the enthusiasm of the people, the state government is expecting more devotees to come this time. According to official figures, till 4 pm on Saturday evening, 7 lakh 37 thousand 885 devotees had got themselves registered online for Badrinath.
