A passenger bus lost control and plunged into a deep gorge on the Bhikiyasain-Vinayak road in Almora. Several passengers were killed in the accident.

A horrific road accident occurred in Almora district of Uttarakhand on Tuesday morning. A passenger bus lost control on the Bhikiyasain-Vinayak road and plunged into a deep gorge. Several passengers were killed in the accident, while many others are reported to be seriously injured. The incident caused panic in the area, and relief and rescue operations were immediately launched.
Where and how the accident happened
According to reports, the accident occurred near Shilapani on the Bhikiyasain-Vinayak-Jalali motor road. The bus was traveling from Bhikiyasain towards Ramnagar and had departed from Dwarahat at around 6:00 AM. En route, the bus suddenly went out of control and fell into the gorge.
Initial reports suggest that 6 to 7 people have died. There were a total of 12 passengers on board the bus. Several injured passengers have been admitted to a nearby hospital in Bhikiyasain. However, the exact number of fatalities and injuries has not yet been officially confirmed.
Rescue operation underway
Upon receiving information about the accident, teams from the police, administration, and SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) rushed to the spot. Rescue operations are underway on a war footing, and it is feared that some passengers may still be trapped inside the bus. District administration officials have also left for the accident site.
The location is said to be approximately 100 kilometers from the district headquarters. According to disaster management officer Vineet Pal, relief and rescue operations are being expedited, and immediate medical assistance is being provided to the injured.
