Bedi was a part of the famous spin quartet of the Indian team in the 70s. It stars Erapalli Prasanna, BS Chandrasekhar and S Venkataraghavan Bedi.

Bedi considered Sachin Tendulkar like his son. In Bedi’s book ‘Sardar of Spin’, Tendulkar wrote that, when Bedi was the coach of the Indian team in 1990, he used to behave strictly in the nets. Outside the nets he treats me like his son. The book ‘Sardar of Spin’ was written by Bishan Singh’s daughter Neha Bedi.

When Bedi gave victory to Pakistan

Bishan Singh Bedi was an advocate of playing cricket in a gentlemanly manner. Cricket lovers still remember his decision in the 1978 ODI match against Pakistan in Sahiwal. In this match, India needed to score 23 runs in the last 14 balls. Eight wickets were left. Here Bedi called back her batsmen and gave victory to Pakistan.

Bedi was angry with the poor attitude of Pakistani bowlers and poor umpiring. Pakistani fast bowler Sarfaraz Nawaz had bowled four consecutive bouncer balls. Some of these balls went over the batsman’s head. Despite this the umpire did not give wide. The umpires were also from Pakistan. Bedi had said that the match was not being played in the proper spirit of the game, so she decided to recall the batsmen.

The first wife was Australian

Bedi married twice. His first wife was Australian. In 1967-68, the Indian team went on Australia tour. During this time, Bishan Singh Bedi met Australian girl Glenith at a party in Melbourne. The word ‘Gavas’ in the name was taken from the surname of legendary Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar. Bishan Singh Bedi and Glenith got divorced after a few years.

Angad Bedi after second marriage

After this, Bedi got married for the second time to Anju from B Bharat. From which came his son Angad Bedi. Angad is a well-known model and actor. Bedi also has a daughter named Neha from her second marriage.
