Bihar | Truck-auto collision kills 4 in Sitamarh

After the accident, Sadar DSP Ram Krishna and a large number of police forces immediately reached the spot. They rescued the victims trapped in the crushed auto.

Four people died in the accident when a speeding truck hit a three-wheeler in Sitamarhi district of Bihar. The accident occurred due to speeding and negligent driving on the Sitamarhi highway.

The deceased on the three-wheeler have been identified as Bharat Kumar, Bharat Kumar’s wife Anjali Devi, Bharat Kumar’s daughter Rita Kumari and the driver of the three-wheeler Satyendra Kumar. All are residents of Sitamarhi district. After the accident, the truck driver and conductor fled leaving the vehicle.

The district police have arrested the truck conductor who was injured in the accident. He had earlier fled from the spot. The truck driver is still absconding and a search operation is being carried out to nab him.

Sitamarhi Sadar Range DSP Ram Krishna said, “We have arrested the truck conductor and are trying to nab the driver. A case has been registered against him for negligent driving, which led to the death of four people. We have informed the family members of the deceased about this fatal accident. The victims died on the spot.”

After the accident, there was chaos at the spot, local people expressed anger over the lack of road safety. Local residents claimed that the truck driver was drunk at the time of the accident. The accident was so severe that the truck ran over the auto, trapping all four passengers in it.

The bodies have been sent to Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. Local people are demanding strict road safety measures in Sitamarhi. The administration has ordered an inquiry into the accident. Officials have promised strict action against the guilty driver. Police are continuing to search for the truck driver.
