Bihar | 6 people a family died due to fire in a hut in Rohtas, two women and four children dead

Six people of the same family died in a fire in a hut-like house in Kachhwa police station area of Rohtas district of Bihar on Tuesday. Two women and four children are said to be among the dead. There is news of a two year old girl Moti Kumari being injured in this accident, who has been admitted to Sadar Hospital, Sasaram for treatment.

According to the police, people of a family were sleeping in the afternoon after having dinner in a tin-clad house in Ibrahimpur. It is being said that during this time a spark came out from the electricity transformer located nearby and the house caught fire. People tried their best to extinguish the fire, but by then six people had died.

According to local people, the dead include Dev Chaudhary’s wife Pushpa Devi, her three daughters, a son Moha Kumar and Pushpa Devi’s sister-in-law Maya Devi. It is said that Moti Kumari, a younger daughter of Dev Choudhary, has been admitted to Sadar Hospital in Sasaram for treatment in an injured condition, where her condition is said to be critical.

An official of the district administration said that the cause of the fire is being investigated, after which it will be known whether the fire in the hut was caused by the spark of the power transformer or the spark of the home’s stove. The officer said that instructions have been given for proper treatment of the injured girl. The victim’s family is being helped.
