The Central Government has announced the award of Bharat Ratna (posthumously) to PV Narasimha Rao, Chaudhary Charan Singh and MS Swaminathan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared the information about giving the country’s highest civilian honor to the three personalities along with their photographs on social media.
Chaudhary Charan Singh was the fifth and Narasimha Rao the ninth Prime Minister of the country. Agricultural scientist Swaminathan is called the father of Green Revolution. On PM’s announcement, Chaudhary Charan Singh’s grandson and Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) chief Jayant Chaudhary wrote – Won hearts.
This is the tenth Bharat Ratna awarded by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government since it assumed power in 2014. Earlier, on 3 February, it was announced to give Bharat Ratna to senior BJP leader LK Advani and on 23 January, former Bihar CM Karpoori Thakur (posthumously) was given Bharat Ratna.
In this way, it has been announced to give this honor to 5 celebrities this year. Apart from these, Madan Mohan Malviya, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Pranab Mukherjee, Bhupen Hazarika and Nanaji Deshmukh have received this honor during Modi’s tenure. Including today’s three celebrities, there are a total of 53 people who have received this honor so far.
