There is Bharat Bandh of farmers organizations today regarding many demands including MSP. The impact of Bharat Bandh is especially visible in Punjab and Haryana. Expressing solidarity with the protesting farmers in Punjab, employees of Punjab Roadways, Punbus and private public transport bus operators are on strike today, with more than five thousand buses off the roads.

Petroleum dealers in Punjab have closed filling stations in support of the bandh. Activists of several farmers’ organizations were seen asking traders to keep their shops and business establishments closed in protest at several places in AAP-ruled Punjab.

Amid the Bharat Bandh, farmer leaders said that they will block major roads and occupy toll plazas during the bandh. Complete closure of shops and other establishments was reported from Patiala, Ludhiana, Bathinda, Moga, Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar and other places.

Adequate security arrangements have been made in both the states to prevent any untoward incident, a senior police officer said here. The strike caused inconvenience to people, especially women, across the state. Many passengers said they had to take taxis to reach their destinations.
