An FIR has been registered in connection with the assault on a Kashmiri shawl vendor and the death threats made against him. Following the FIR, police arrested Bajrang Dal leader Ankur Singh and other activists based on information provided by an informant.

Police in Kashipur, Uttarakhand, have arrested a named suspect and several unidentified individuals in connection with an attack and beating of a Kashmiri shawl vendor. All the accused involved in the incident were reportedly members of the Bajrang Dal.
Nasir Khuehami, the national convener of the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association, said that the matter was brought to the attention of senior police officials, following which an FIR (First Information Report) was registered.
Riddhima Agarwal, Inspector General of Police, Kumaon Range, Uttarakhand Police, informed the association that an FIR had been registered regarding the attack on the victim and the death threats he received. Following the FIR, police, acting on a tip-off, arrested Bajrang Dal leader Ankur Singh and other activists.
The association stated that the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Uttarakhand state government have taken serious note of the incident and warned that such acts of harassment and violence against Kashmiri traders will not be tolerated.
The association condemned the violence and threats against Kashmiris, stating that it is completely unacceptable in a democratic society. They emphasized that the safety and dignity of Kashmiri traders and students must be protected and that no acts of violence should be perpetrated against them.
Nasir Khuehami said that as soon as they received information about the incident, they immediately contacted senior officials in Uttarakhand and informed them of the entire matter. Action was taken only after this intervention.
Nasir Khuehami said, “We are also your brothers. No such actions should be taken that spread unrest. If such an incident happens again, it will not be tolerated.”
He added that this action demonstrates a commitment to ensuring the safety of Kashmiri traders and students and upholding democratic values. The association expressed gratitude to the government and police officials for their timely intervention and support.
