Ambala, Haryana: Shambhu border sealed on Punjab-Haryana border ahead of farmers’ protest

Farmers are going to move to Delhi once again with their demands. Farmer organizations have announced ‘Delhi Chalo March’ on 13 February. The government has become alert in view of the farmers’ movement. The police administration has become helpless. This is the reason why security has been tightened on the Delhi-Haryana border. Barricading has been done on Ghazipur border. Section 144 has been imposed in Panchkula, Haryana. Panchkula DCP Sumer Singh Pratap said that procession, demonstration, march past on foot or with tractor trolley and other vehicles and carrying any kind of sticks, rods or weapons has been banned.

In view of the farmers’ march to Delhi, the Shambhu border between Punjab and Haryana has been closed by installing cement barricades and barbed wires. Haryana Police has sealed the border with big stones and barricades. Movement has also been banned on the bridge over the Ghaggar river. Excavations have been done to stop farmers’ tractors.

Farmer organizations from many states including Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Delhi are involved in the movement. Seeing the farmers’ movement, the Haryana government also became alert. Mobile internet services have been banned in 7 districts of Haryana. Internet services on mobile networks, except voice calls, have been banned in Haryana’s Ambala, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Jind, Hisar, Fatehabad and Sirsa districts. SMS and all dongle services were also suspended. This order will be in force from 6 am on February 11 to 11:59 pm on February 13.

Farmers are once again agitating with many demands including MSP. Farmers have said that they will march to Delhi. At the same time, the central government has sent a letter to the farmers’ union on Saturday, inviting talks. Three senior ministers of the government will talk to farmer leaders regarding their demands. This has been confirmed by Sarwan Singh Pandher, General Secretary of Punjab Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee. He said that a meeting will be held in Chandigarh on February 12 at 5 pm with Union Ministers Arjun Munda, Piyush Goyal and Nityanand Rai regarding the demands of farmer unions.
