‘Bharat 24’ news channel anchor Shazia Nisar and ‘Amar Ujala’ anchor Adarsh Jha arrested on charges of blackmailing and extortion, sent to 14 days judicial custody

Anchor Shazia Nisar working in Bharat 24 News Channel and anchor Adarsh Jha of ‘Amar Ujala’ Digital were arrested by Noida Police this morning and sent to jail on charges of blackmailing and running a syndicate. SHO of Noida Sector 58 Amit Kumar told The Lens that this action has been taken after a complaint was lodged by Bharat 24. He told that both of them were friends and were running a syndicate of blackmailing and extortion within the channel itself.

Was anchor Shazia Nisar, who was dancing during the Ukraine war and reporting, running a blackmailing racket along with her fellow anchor? According to the FIR lodged by the head of Bharat 24 channel Jagdish Chandra, she had threatened to implicate all the people of the channel in a rape case in which Adarsh was helping her. According to the police, 34.50 lakh cash has been recovered during the raid at Shazia’s house.
Audio evidence with police
According to the FIR, this case of blackmailing was going on for a long time. As evidence, Bharat 24 management has handed over an audio tape to the police. On April 14, 2025, Shazia threatened over the phone that she would make serious false allegations against the channel management. Police told Lens that first she demanded Rs 5 crore, then it increased and finally reached a demand of Rs 65 crore. In this game of blackmailing and extortion, it is alleged that Adarsh Jha also played an active role that if the money is not given, they will publish the news. Both of them also went to Jaipur to meet Dr. Jagdish Chandra, whose video recording is also there.
Three FIRs, many allegations
Bharat 24′ management has so far lodged a total of 3 FIRs in this case. The first by the MD and Group Editor of the channel, the second by Consulting Editor Anita Hada and the third by HR Head Anu Sridhar. It is worth noting that Shazia left Republic Bharat and started working as an anchor in Dr. Jagdish Chandra’s channel in November 2022. It is alleged that after some time, she started threatening the editor, HR head and other seniors to register false cases like rape and sexual harassment.
15 days judicial custody
Bharat 24’s consulting editor Anita Hada and HR head Anu Sridhar have also filed an FIR against Shazia, her mother Naseem Bano and Aadarsh Jha. It includes unwanted demands in the office, indecency, threats and threats of false sexual harassment cases.
After the FIR filed by ‘Bharat 24’ management, Noida Sector-58 police station arrested both the accused and presented them in the Gautam Buddha Nagar court. Judge Juhi Anand ordered to send both of them to jail in 14 days judicial custody. Amar Ujala Digital’s Rajiv Singh said that right now our entire management has gone to Dehradun but definitely action will be taken against Aadarsh Jha in this matter.
