Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday urged the court to take suo motu cognizance of the gang rape case of a minor girl in Ayodhya in view of its sensitivity and gravity and ensure the safety of the rape victim under its supervision.

Akhilesh Yadav also said that the intentions of people with ill intentions to politicise the incident should never succeed.

He wrote on ‘X’, “The government should make the best medical arrangements for the rape victim. It is the government’s responsibility to protect the girl’s life.”

The Samajwadi Party chief said, “It is a humble request to the Hon’ble Court to take suo motu cognizance and ensure all possible security of the victim under its supervision, considering the sensitivity and seriousness of the situation.”

Without naming anyone in his post, he said, “The intention of ill-intentioned people to politicise such incidents should never succeed.”

Akhilesh Yadav had on Saturday demanded DNA testing of Samajwadi Party worker Moeed Khan and his servant Raju Khan, accused of raping a minor in Ayodhya, which had led to a controversy.

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati had questioned Akhilesh’s statement that how many accused in such cases were DNA tested during the Samajwadi Party rule.

Akhilesh Yadav had said on ‘X’, “The way for justice should be found by getting DNA tests done of those who are accused in the case of misdeed, and not by doing politics by just making allegations. Whoever is guilty should be given full punishment according to the law, but if the allegations are proved false after the DNA test, then the government officials involved should also not be spared. This is the demand of justice.” Other SP leaders also demanded narco test in the case.
