On the Uttarakhand government’s announcement to change the names of several places, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav said, “Change the name of Uttarakhand to Uttar Pradesh 2. They should also link the name of Uttar Pradesh with Uttarakhand.”

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday announced the change in the names of various places located in Haridwar, Dehradun, Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar. The Chief Minister had said that the change in the names of various places is being done in accordance with public sentiment and Indian culture and heritage. With this, people will be able to take inspiration from Indian culture and the great men who contributed to its preservation. Now Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav has taken a dig at this issue. Akhilesh Yadav has said that change the name of Uttarakhand to Uttarakhand 2.
The names of these places have been changed
According to the Chief Minister’s announcement, in Haridwar district, Aurangzebpur’s Shivaji Nagar, Ghaziwali’s Arya Nagar, Chandpur’s Jyotiba Phule Nagar, Mohammadpur Jat’s Mohanpur Jat, Khanpur Kursali’s Ambedkar Nagar, Indrishpur’s Nandpur, Khanpur’s Shri Krishnapur, Akbarpur Fazalpur have been renamed as Vijaynagar. In Dehradun district, Mianwala’s Ramji Wala, Peerwala’s Kesari Nagar, Chandpur Khurd’s Prithviraj Nagar, Abdullah Nagar have been renamed as Daksh Nagar.
In Nainital district, Nawabi Road has been renamed as Atal Marg and Panchakkki to ITI Road has been renamed as Guru Gowalkar Marg. In Udham Singh Nagar, it has been announced that the name of Municipal Council Sultanpur Patti will be changed to Kaushalya Puri.
