Actress and dancer Shefali Jariwala, who became famous with the song ‘Kaanta Laga’, has passed away. According to the information, she had a cardiac arrest and was brought dead to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital (Andheri) in Mumbai.

Mumbai Police said that the cause of Jariwala’s death is not yet known and her body has been taken for post-mortem.

Police said, “Her body was found at her residence in Andheri. Police received information at 1 am on Saturday night. Her body has been sent to Cooper Hospital for post-mortem. The cause of her death is not yet clear.”

An official said that a team of Mobile Forensic Unit and Mumbai Police reached the actor’s apartment in Golden Rays-Y Building.

Jariwala was taken to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital in suburban Mumbai by her husband and actor Parag Tyagi.

“She was brought to the hospital around 11:15 pm where the doctor on duty declared her dead,” a hospital source said.

According to media reports, Jariwala died of a heart attack, though there is no official statement from the family or their representatives yet.

Jariwala gained popularity through her stint in the dance-based show series “Nach Baliye” along with her husband and later participating in reality shows like “Bigg Boss 13” hosted by Salman Khan.

Jariwala’s sudden death has come as a shock to many friends and colleagues from the industry and they have expressed their grief.

Singer Mika Singh said he was shocked to hear the news of his dear friend Jariwala’s death.

Mr Singh wrote, “I am so shocked, saddened and heavy hearted… Our beloved star and my dearest friend @shefalijariwala has left us. Still can’t believe it. You will always be remembered for your grace, smile and vivaciousness. Om Shanti.”

Actress Kamya Punjabi wrote, “Can’t get over this news…my heart is sinking. Shefali.”

Actor Aly Goni wrote, “RIP Shefali.”

Jariwala rose to fame in 2002 with the immense popularity of the song “Kaanta Laga”, a remix of an old Lata Mangeshkar song from the 1972 film “Samadhi”.
