According to Goa Police, “A massive fire broke out at a nightclub on Romeo Lane in Arpora, North Goa, killing 25 people, including 4 tourists, 14 staff members, and 7 whose identities are yet to be determined.”

The death toll has risen to 25 in a massive fire that broke out at a restaurant-cum-nightclub in the Arpora area of Goa. The fire spread so rapidly that people didn’t have a chance to escape. It is reported that 20 people died from suffocation, while 3 others were burned to death.
Club filled with smoke in moments
Within minutes, the entire club was filled with smoke, and people started running in all directions to save their lives. It is said that the nightclub’s exit gate was very small, which made it difficult for people to get out. Some people reportedly ran towards the kitchen to escape.
What did eyewitnesses say?
According to initial information, the incident at Birch by Romeo Lane in Goa occurred when there was an explosion in the kitchen area. The fire quickly engulfed the entire kitchen. Then, the basement also filled with smoke. According to the Goa Police, the fire broke out around 12:04 AM on Saturday. A gas cylinder is believed to be the main cause of the fire, but a thorough investigation is underway. Several eyewitnesses claim that the fire started on the first floor of the club, where the dance floor was located. Following the incident, the police have arrested the nightclub manager.
Those responsible will not be spared – CM
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, commenting on the death of 25 people in the fire, said, “Today is a very sad day. This is the first time such an incident has happened in Goa’s tourism history. This is a very big accident. 25 people have died in it.”
He further added, “I myself went to the spot last night. Four of the deceased were tourists, and the rest were club employees. I express my condolences to the families of the deceased. The government will provide financial assistance to the families of the victims. Six injured people are currently receiving treatment.”
CM Sawant said that a magisterial inquiry will be conducted into the entire incident. Anyone found responsible will not be spared, and action will be taken against them.
