A dumper hit three cars this morning at the Lachhiwala toll plaza on the Dehradun-Haridwar highway. Superintendent of Police (traffic) Lokjeet Singh said, “Two people have died in the incident of a dumper hitting a car. It is being said that the brakes had failed. The incident is being investigated.”

A horrific road accident took place on Monday morning near Lachhiwala toll plaza on Dehradun-Haridwar highway. A speeding dumper suddenly hit three cars, due to which one car got badly crushed between the truck and the pole standing on the side of the road. Two people died on the spot in the accident, while many others were injured.

As soon as the incident was reported, police and SDRF teams reached the spot and immediately started relief and rescue work. Efforts are on to rescue the people trapped in the vehicles under the rescue operation. Superintendent of Police (Rural) Jaya Baluni said that the accident was very serious and the injured have been admitted to the nearest hospital. Due to the accident, there was a jam on the highway for some time, which was controlled by the police and traffic was restored.

At present, the cause of the accident is being investigated and the police is investigating the matter by examining CCTV footage.
