With the looming prospect of elections in Punjab, Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh has once again stepped out of jail. The Haryana government has granted him a 30-day parole, following which he walked out of Sunaria Jail in Rohtak on Tuesday morning. According to reports, Ram Rahim exited the jail premises at approximately 6:34 AM. Notably, no heightened security arrangements were visible outside the jail complex during this time.
Ram Rahim, who is serving sentences in multiple cases—including the sexual exploitation of female disciples (sadhvis) and the murder of journalist Ramchandra Chhatrapati—has been incarcerated in Sunaria Jail since August 2017. A special CBI court had sentenced him to 10 years imprisonment for each of the two rape cases involving female disciples, totaling a 20-year sentence. Additionally, he has also been convicted in the murder case of Ranjit Singh, the manager of the Dera.

On most occasions when granted parole, Ram Rahim has stayed at the Dera Sacha Sauda ashram located in the Bagpat district of Uttar Pradesh. Headquartered in Sirsa, the Dera Sacha Sauda organization commands a massive following across Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, and several other states in North India.
