Popular YouTuber Elvish Yadav has received significant legal relief. The Supreme Court has quashed the FIR registered in 2023, in which he was accused of the alleged use of snake venom and involvement in other illicit activities. This case was registered in Noida, and the Uttar Pradesh Police had been investigating the matter.
The police had registered the FIR in 2023 in connection with a rave party held in Noida. It was alleged that snake venom was being used as a recreational intoxicant at these parties. Several snake charmers and other individuals were also arrested, through whom Elvish Yadav’s name subsequently surfaced. The FIR included serious charges under the Wildlife Protection Act and statutes related to narcotics.
During the hearing, the Supreme Court observed that there was insufficient concrete evidence against Elvish Yadav. The Court further noted that the FIR suffered from serious procedural and factual deficiencies.
In this case, the Noida Police had arrested Elvish Yadav under the NDPS Act. Gaurav Gupta, an office-bearer of the organization ‘People for Animals,’ had lodged the FIR. The police filed a chargesheet in the District Court, stating that Elvish had established contact with the snake charmers who were incarcerated. Additionally, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had summoned him to Lucknow on multiple occasions for questioning.
