A major accident occurred on Holi. Panic gripped the Khoda area of Ghaziabad on Tuesday night when a massive fire suddenly broke out on the ground floor of a five-story building. The fire spread so rapidly that within minutes, the entire building was filled with smoke, causing panic among the residents. The incident occurred in a residential building located near the Golden Palace near Birbal Chowki.
According to preliminary information, the fire broke out on the ground floor near the stairs and electrical panel. Smoke quickly spread up the stairs to the upper floors, making it difficult for people to descend. Approximately 150 people were present in the building, which had approximately 40 to 45 flats, and they were trapped inside due to the smoke.
Fire Station Vaishali received information about the incident at 11:47 pm. CFO Rahul Pal stated that as soon as the information was received, vehicles were immediately dispatched from all fire stations. A total of approximately 10 fire engines arrived at the scene. Upon arrival, it was discovered that a fire was raging in the stairwells and electrical panels, causing thick smoke to spread throughout the building.
Firefighters immediately launched a rescue operation. Fire tender ladders were extended to the top, and people were evacuated using them. Many were safely evacuated through windows and balconies. Efforts to control the fire in the stairwell continued.
Around 150 people were safely evacuated. However, 20 to 22 people suffered burns or serious injuries due to smoke inhalation. These people were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital by ambulance, where they are being treated under medical supervision. The remaining people were also given first aid at the scene.
Police and administration officials also arrived at the scene and oversaw the rescue and relief efforts. After hours of effort, the fire was completely brought under control. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
