More than half a dozen vehicles collided on the Kothari bridge in the Mandal area due to poor visibility. One person died on the spot in this horrific accident, while more than a dozen others were reported injured.
According to eyewitnesses, the fog was so dense in the morning that it was difficult to see even a few meters ahead. During this time, after one vehicle suddenly stopped, the vehicles behind it collided with each other, and within moments, several vehicles were involved in a chain reaction. Upon receiving information about the incident, police and administrative officials reached the spot and immediately started relief and rescue operations.
The injured, trapped in the damaged vehicles, were rescued after considerable effort and admitted to nearby hospitals, where they are currently receiving treatment. The condition of some of the injured is reported to be serious. Following the accident, a traffic jam stretching approximately four kilometers occurred on the Kothari bridge and the surrounding area, bringing traffic to a complete standstill. The police arrived at the scene, controlled the situation, and arranged for the removal of the vehicles. The damaged truck was removed from the road with the help of a crane, and traffic was restored.
The police have launched an investigation into the entire incident and are trying to determine the cause of the accident.
