A major accident occurred in the Baloda Bazar district of Chhattisgarh on Thursday. Seven laborers were killed on the spot in a massive explosion at the Real Ispat plant in the Bakulahi area, while several others were seriously injured. The accident happened when the laborers were cleaning near the plant’s DSC coal furnace.
How did the accident happen?
According to reports, a sudden and powerful explosion occurred in the DSC coal furnace of the Real Ispat plant. The explosion was so intense that the laborers near the furnace were engulfed in hot coal and flames. The laborers did not even have a chance to react and were severely burned.
A plume of black smoke rose into the sky
The intensity of the blast can be gauged from the fact that a plume of black smoke rose several meters into the air. After the explosion, the walls of the plant premises turned black, and ash and burnt coal were scattered everywhere. A chaotic situation prevailed in the surrounding area for some time.
Injured admitted to the hospital
The injured laborers were immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment. The condition of some of the injured is reported to be critical. Upon receiving information about the incident, fire tenders arrived at the scene and began efforts to control the fire.
Police and administration launch investigation
The entire matter is being investigated by the Nipaniya police outpost and the Bhatapara rural police. It is not yet clear what caused the explosion. The police are investigating every aspect of the accident, and the plant management is also being questioned.
