NSUI demands justice for Anjel Chakma blames BJP-RSS for ‘atmosphere of hate’

Addressing the gathering, NSUI National President Varun Chaudhary said that hatred led to the murder of Angel Chakma, and the BJP government’s silence has killed justice. Keeping the brutal attack under wraps for 20 days is not governance, but complicity in the crime.

The Congress party’s student wing, the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), held a candle march at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on Tuesday, demanding justice for Angel Chakma. The NSUI alleged that Chakma’s death was a result of the atmosphere of hatred created by the BJP-RSS.

Led by NSUI National President Varun Chaudhary, the protesters said that Chakma, a student from the Northeast, was brutally attacked in Dehradun for protesting against being verbally abused and called “Chinese.” They alleged that the BJP-led Uttarakhand government delayed taking action, allowing the accused to roam freely for several days before an FIR was finally registered.

Addressing the gathering, Varun Chaudhary said, “Hatred killed Angel Chakma, and the BJP government’s silence has murdered justice. Suppressing a brutal attack for 20 days is not governance, but complicity in the crime.” Chaudhary demanded that Angel Chakma receive justice as soon as possible.

Indian Youth Congress (IYC) National President Uday Bhanu Chib reiterated the allegations, claiming that Angel’s last words were, “I am Indian; I am not Chinese.” He said, “Today, the BJP-RSS is spreading the poison of hatred in the country. Criminals are being protected, and justice is being suppressed.”
