In the Chhaurahi police station area of Begusarai district, Bihar, unidentified criminals broke into a house and shot and killed Nilesh Kumar while he was sleeping. The deceased was a former block president of the JDU party. The exact reasons for the incident have not yet been determined.
However, the police have launched an investigation, initially suggesting that the motive was an old dispute. According to reports, on Tuesday night, Nilesh Kumar, a resident of Peer Nagar village under the Chhaurahi police station, was sleeping at his home when six to seven criminals, arriving on three motorcycles, opened fire on him without saying a word. Nilesh Kumar died on the spot.
When villagers and family members rushed to the scene after hearing the gunshots, the criminals had already fled, brandishing their weapons. According to the deceased’s family, Nilesh usually slept in the cattle shed near his house. There was no apparent dispute in the area at the time of the incident.
A police officer stated on Wednesday that the police have taken the body into custody and sent it to the Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examination. An FSL (Forensic Science Laboratory) team has been called to the scene to collect evidence. He said that the reasons for the murder are not yet known, but some villagers have mentioned an old land dispute.
A case had also been registered regarding the land dispute. Meanwhile, the police claim to have detained some people for questioning. The investigation is ongoing, and an intensive search operation is underway to apprehend the criminals. The police claim that the culprits will be arrested soon. The incident has sparked various discussions in the area.
