Massive fire near Rithala Metro station in Delhi engulfs hundreds of shanties, 3 dead

One person died and another was injured in a massive fire that engulfed approximately 500 shanties near the Rithala Metro station in Rohini, Delhi, according to the Delhi Fire Service (DFS).

According to police, several LPG cylinders reportedly exploded on Friday night, fueling the fire and spreading panic among residents.

Fire department officials reported that a thick plume of smoke was seen rising from the area, and locals struggled to save their belongings and move to safety. They said preliminary information indicated that 400 to 500 shanties were destroyed.

According to fire officials, they received a call about the fire at 10:56 pm, after which several fire engines and firefighting robots were sent to the scene.

Police cordoned off the area and additional fire engines were kept on standby to prevent the fire from spreading further.
