6 Children Die Of Kidney Failure In 15 Days In Madhya Pradesh, toxic chemicals found in the medicine!

Jabalpur Drug Inspector Sharad Kumar Jain said that Kataria Pharmaceuticals had ordered 660 bottles of Coldrif cough syrup from a Chennai company. Of these, 594 bottles were supplied to Chhindwara. The remaining 66 bottles were kept in cold storage.

In Madhya Pradesh’s Chhindwara district, six children died and more than 30 fell ill within 15 days after consuming a suspected cough syrup. Following this incident, the Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Department raided the Jabalpur-based distributor, Kataria Pharmaceuticals.

Six children died, several hospitalized

According to reports, children in Chhindwara district were given “Coldrif cough syrup.” After consuming the syrup, their health deteriorated. More than 30 children had to be referred to various hospitals in Nagpur. Six of these children have died.

Distributor’s clarification

Rajpal Kataria, distributor of Kataria Pharmaceuticals, said, “We supplied this cough syrup in Chhindwara. After children fell ill, they were admitted to hospitals in Nagpur. Six children died during this period. We supplied this medicine to New Apna Agency, Ayush Pharma, and Jain Medical and General Stores. Coldrif syrup was ordered from a Chennai company.”

Drug Inspector’s Statement

Jabalpur Drug Inspector Sharad Kumar Jain said, “The investigation revealed that Kataria Pharmaceuticals had ordered 660 bottles of Coldrif cough syrup from a Chennai company. 594 of these bottles were supplied to Chhindwara. The remaining 66 bottles were kept in cold storage. Of these, 16 bottles have been sent to a lab in Bhopal for testing.”

Investigation ongoing, report awaited

The Drug Department has currently sealed the remaining bottles and their use has been stopped until the lab report is received. Only after the report comes, it will be clear whether any harmful substance was added to the cough syrup.

Panic and anger in the area

This incident has spread panic in Chhindwara and surrounding areas. Families whose children have died are in mourning. Villagers have demanded strict action from the administration to prevent such incidents from happening again.
