Navi Mumbai Police have arrested the driver of the father of former IAS trainee Pooja Khedkar in connection with a road rage case involving the kidnapping of a driver last week, a senior official said on Saturday.
Police said that Pooja Khedkar’s father, Dilip Khedkar, who is wanted in the case, is still absconding.
According to police, the incident occurred on September 13 on the Mulund-Airoli Road in Navi Mumbai when Prahlad Kumar (22) hit a Land Cruiser car with a concrete mixer truck. An argument then ensued between Kumar and two other occupants of the car.
Investigation revealed that Dilip Khedkar and his driver, Praful Salunkhe, forced Kumar into the car and took him to Khedkar’s bungalow in Pune.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Pankaj Dahane said, “We have arrested Khedkar’s driver, Praful Salunkhe, who was involved in the kidnapping.”
Rabale police have registered a case against the accused, including absconding Dilip Khedkar, under Section 137(2) (kidnapping) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

However, she has denied all the allegations against her. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) initiated proceedings against Khedkar under several charges, including a criminal case of attempting to appear in the Civil Services Examination using a fake identity. The Delhi Police had registered an FIR against her for various offences.
