Natural disaster continues to hit Himachal Pradesh. The landslide in Akhada Bazar area of Kullu district has caused devastation. The debris fell directly on the houses, due to which two houses collapsed completely. Many people were buried under the debris in this accident.
Relief and rescue operation continues
The administration, NDRF and local police teams are engaged in relief and rescue work at the spot. Kullu Deputy Commissioner Toral S. Ravish informed that so far three people have been rescued safely, who have been admitted to the hospital. However, one person has died in this incident, while 6 people are still trapped under the debris.
Due to the accident in a densely populated area like Akhada Bazar, there is difficulty in rescue work. Due to increased moisture in the ground due to continuous rain, there is a danger of more landslides.
Efforts to rescue people trapped in the debris
Rescue operation is going on at the spot. Local people are also helping the administration. The district administration said that work is being done rapidly to reach the trapped people. The priority is to safely evacuate all the people trapped under the debris.
Alert in the state
Heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh for the last several days have increased the risk of landslides and flash floods in the hilly districts. The Meteorological Department had already issued a warning that Kullu, Mandi, Chamba and Kinnaur districts are sensitive. The administration has appealed to the people to avoid going near rivers, streams and slopes.
