At least eight people were killed and five others seriously injured in a head-on collision between a passenger-laden auto rickshaw and an unidentified vehicle on the Daniyawan-Hilsa State Highway.

Bihar: A horrific road accident in Shahjahanpur police station area of Patna on Saturday morning shocked everyone. At least eight people died, while five others were seriously injured in a head-on collision between an auto filled with passengers and a Hiva truck on the Daniyawan-Hilsa State Highway. After the accident, there was chaos at the spot and people nearby immediately rushed to help.
According to the information, the deceased were residents of Rera Malama village of Hilsa police station area of Nalanda district. They were going to Patna by auto to take a bath in the Ganga. According to the information, as soon as the auto reached near the Ultratech factory, a speeding vehicle coming from the front hit it hard. Eyewitnesses say that the collision was with a truck. The collision was so severe that the auto was shattered and seven people died on the spot, while one died during treatment. The deceased include seven women and one man.
The sound of the accident was so loud that people from nearby areas reached the spot. Meanwhile, the truck driver fled from the spot. As soon as the information was received, police and ambulance reached the spot and rescue work was started. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem and the injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital.
Police said that the search for the absconding truck driver has been intensified. CCTV footage is being examined to trace the accused vehicle and driver.
