Another incident of Naxalite violence has come to light from Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh. During the ongoing anti-Maoist operation in the National Park area, an IED blast took place on Monday morning, in which DRG (District Reserve Group) jawan Dinesh Nag was martyred. Three other jawans were also injured in this blast.

According to the information, the DRG team was cordoning off the area and searching it as part of the search operation started on Sunday. During this, a sudden explosion took place, which created panic on the spot. Taking immediate action, the injured jawans were evacuated safely and first aid was provided. It is being told that the condition of all the three injured jawans is stable and they are being evacuated for better treatment and are being given high level medical facilities.

This is not the first case of Naxalite incidents in Bijapur. Earlier on August 12, two jawans were injured during the operation conducted in Gangalore area, who were airlifted to Raipur for treatment. At the same time, on August 7, the security forces got a big success when 9 Maoists, including one with a reward of 24 lakhs, surrendered and one Maoist was killed in an encounter.

Naxalism is continuously weakening in the state. Since December 2023, the security forces have killed about 450 Maoists, while more than 1,500 have been arrested. At the same time, the same number of Maoists have also surrendered by laying down their arms.
