Four teams of NDRF and three teams of ITBP are engaged in rescue operation on the spot. However, due to landslides and falling of boulders at many places on Gangotri Highway, relief teams are facing difficulty in moving forward.

The cloudburst incident in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand on Tuesday afternoon has caused massive destruction. After the incident, not only the local village, but also the army camp and helipad came under its grip. So far four people have been confirmed dead, while more than 50 people are reported missing. Relief and rescue work is going on on a war footing, but due to bad weather, the operation by helicopter is being hampered.
Army camp also hit, many soldiers missing!
The 14 Rajputana Rifles unit of the Army present in Harshil area of Uttarkashi was also not untouched by this disaster. The debris from the mountain directly hit the army camp, army mess and cafe. Many soldiers are feared missing. The helipad of Harshil has been completely washed away, due to which air rescue is currently stopped.
NDRF, ITBP teams deployed, but roads blocked

The roads leading to Dharali village are completely destroyed. A 150-meter stretch of road has been washed away on the Gangotri-Harsil route.
Rain becomes the biggest challenge, schools closed
All schools and Anganwadi centers from class 1 to 12 have been closed in 9 districts of the state – Dehradun, Nainital, Champawat, Rudraprayag, Tehri, Chamoli, Pauri, Almora and Bageshwar. In view of heavy rains, the Meteorological Department has issued a red alert in many districts and an orange alert in others.
Kedarnath Yatra postponed, rivers in spate
Due to heavy rains overnight in Rudraprayag, the Alaknanda river has reached close to the danger mark. The journey to Kedarnath Dham has been postponed for the time being. At the same time, Gomti and Saryu rivers are in spate in Bageshwar, due to which flood situation has arisen in the surrounding areas.
Delay in rescue, system not ready
According to the local administration, at present there is heavy debris accumulated at the site of the incident and due to lack of any detection system, it is difficult to identify the people buried under the debris. Due to heavy rains and landslides, heavy machinery has also not been able to reach the spot.
