Moderate to heavy rains continued in many parts of Himachal Pradesh, due to which traffic came to a standstill on 307 roads, including two national highways, on Sunday. Officials gave this information.

The local weather office has issued an ‘orange’ alert for heavy to very heavy rains in different areas of the state on Monday and Tuesday.

Many areas of the state have been receiving moderate to heavy rains since Saturday evening. Bharadi recorded 108.2 mm, Murari Devi 82 mm, Naina Devi 74.4 mm, Malraon 56.2 mm, Brahmani 45.4 mm, Una 38 mm and Jot 36.2 mm rainfall.

According to the State Emergency Operation Center (SEOC), traffic remained closed on a total of 307 roads in Himachal Pradesh till Sunday morning. Of these, the movement of vehicles remained closed on the highest number of 156 roads in Mandi. At the same time, 68 roads remained closed in Kulli.

SEOC said 284 power distribution transformers and 210 water supply schemes were affected across the state. Himachal Pradesh has suffered a loss of Rs 1,692 crore till August 1 since the onset of monsoon on June 20.

Officials said 101 people have died and 36 are missing in rain-related incidents in the state so far, while 1,600 houses have been completely or partially damaged.

Officials said the state has witnessed 51 incidents of flash floods, 28 incidents of cloudburst and 45 incidents of landslides.
