Lightning strike leaves four children dead in UP’s Kaushambi

Four people died due to lightning in two different police station areas of Kaushambi district of Uttar Pradesh. Police have taken the bodies of the deceased into custody and sent them for post-mortem.

In-charge of Sarai Akil police station Sunil Kumar said that four children of Jugrajpur village – Satish Kumar (13), Mani (13), Pawan Das and Deepanjali were grazing goats. During this time, lightning struck with a loud thunder and all four children got caught in it.

He said that the family immediately took these burnt children to a private hospital where doctors declared Satish and Mani dead, while Pawan and Deepanjali were declared out of danger after first aid.

According to the officer, information about this incident has been sent to the Disaster Management Department and the process of providing financial assistance to the families of the deceased children has been started.

The second incident is from Tara Ka Pura village of Kaushambi police station area. Jurisdictional Abhishek Singh said that three children – Govind (15), Rupa Devi (12) and Mohit (10) had gone to graze buffaloes in Tara Ka Pura village, when lightning struck and all three children were burnt.

Abhishek Singh said that Govind died on the spot and Rupa died during treatment in the district hospital. Mohit is undergoing treatment in a private hospital.
