Five members of a family died tragically in a massive fire in a four-storey building in Prem Nagar, Chamanganj police station area of ​​Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh on Sunday night. The deceased include parents and their three daughters. The fire started in a shoe-slipper factory located on the first and second floors of the building, which spread to the third and then the fourth floor. As soon as the information was received, a total of 10 fire brigade vehicles reached the spot and rescue operation was started.

Assistant Police Commissioner (Sisamau) Manjay Singh said that neighbors had informed the police and fire department after seeing flames and smoke coming out of a multi-storey building in Chamanganj area.

He said that on receiving the information, the police and fire department team reached the spot and controlled the fire after a lot of effort. Singh said that the bodies of Mohammad Danish (45) and his wife Nazneen Saba (42) have been recovered from the fourth floor of the building. The bodies of his daughters Sara (15), Simra (12) and Inaaya (seven) have not been found yet. It is feared that they too have died. They are being searched for.

He said, “The cause of the fire is not yet clear but it is suspected that the fire could have been caused by a short-circuit or a fault in the internal wiring on the first or second floor where the shoe factory was operating.” Singh said the matter is being investigated.
