The Uttarakhand Cabinet has approved the UCC rules today, approved in the cabinet meeting led by CM Dhami

The Uttarakhand government has taken another step forward towards implementing the UCC. Under this, after making partial amendments in the rules prepared recently to implement the Uniform Civil Code, it has been approved in the cabinet meeting held on Monday. In such a situation, now the way for implementation of Uniform Civil Code in the state of Uttarakhand has been completely cleared. Therefore, it is expected that UCC will be implemented in the state of Uttarakhand on the occasion of Republic Day on 26 January.
Approval of amendment in UCC rules in cabinet meeting: In fact, the expert committee constituted at the government level for making partial amendments in the rules had sent the rules to the Law Department for testing. In such a situation, after the examination of the Legislative Department, a cabinet meeting was convened under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on 20 January i.e. today and the UCC rules have been approved. At present, the Model Code of Conduct is in force for the municipal elections. Due to this, the Uttarakhand government had sent a letter to the State Election Commission seeking permission to hold a cabinet meeting.
UCC may be implemented in Uttarakhand on 26 January: Therefore, after getting permission from the State Election Commission, a meeting of the Dhami cabinet was convened in the Secretariat on Monday. The important point in this cabinet meeting was to approve the Uniform Civil Code rules. Therefore, during the meeting that lasted for about half an hour, the cabinet has approved the Uniform Civil Code rules. In such a situation, it is now expected that the Uniform Civil Code will be implemented in Uttarakhand on 26 January.
