A major accident has happened with the soldiers of the Indian Army in the Union Territory of Ladakh. The army personnel were doing tank practice of crossing the river in the Daulat Beg Oldi area of Ladakh.
During this, the water level of the river suddenly rose, due to which five army personnel were swept away in the river and lost their lives. The bodies of all the soldiers have been recovered. This accident with the Indian Army soldiers happened near the border with China i.e. Line of Actual Control (LAC). Daulat Beg Oldi is located in the Karakoram Range, where the army base is located.
According to news agency PTI, officials have said that five army soldiers have been swept away in a sudden flood near the LAC in Ladakh. According to the information received by ABP News, the army tank was crossing a deep part of the river, when it got stuck there. During this, due to the sudden rise in the water level, it got filled with water, due to which the soldiers were swept away and died. It is important to clarify here that there has been no clash at the spot. At the same time, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has expressed grief over the accident.

Speaking to ANI, defense officials have said that five army personnel were present in the tank at the time of the accident. This includes a JCO and four soldiers. All 5 soldiers were martyred. The bodies of all have been found. The tank that met with the accident in Daulat Beg Oldi was the Indian Army’s T-72 tank. India has 2400 T-72 tanks. The Indian Army has been using these tanks for a long time. At the time of the accident, many other tanks were also present there.
Army built tank repair facility near the China border
This accident in Ladakh has happened at a time when only last month the army built a tank repair facility in Daulat Beg Oldi. Two tank repair facilities were set up to strengthen military preparations near the border with China in eastern Ladakh. One of these was built in Daulat Beg Oldi and the other in Nyoma. Established at an altitude of 14,500 feet, this is the world’s highest tank repair facility. The army has deployed around 500 tanks here.
