In the Rajput Mahapanchayat held in Kheda of Muzaffarnagar parliamentary constituency of Uttar Pradesh, it was decided that people of this community will boycott BJP candidates in Muzaffarnagar, Kairana and Saharanpur Lok Sabha constituencies.
Thakur Puran Singh, national president of Kisan Mazdoor Sangathan and prominent Rajput leader of the area, had called this mahapanchayat on Tuesday.
He said, “This boycott is being done in protest against the BJP insulting the Rajput community by ignoring them in ticket distribution.”
Singh said, “People of the Rajput community in these areas will not vote for the BJP candidate but will choose stronger contenders from other parties in his place.”
BJP has fielded Sanjeev Baliyan from Muzaffarnagar and Pradeep Chaudhary from Kairana Lok Sabha seat. Both Balyan and Chaudhary belong to the Jat community and are sitting MPs. In Saharanpur, BJP has fielded Raghav Lakhanpal Sharma.
The Mahapanchayat has claimed that the decisions taken by them will lead to the downfall of the BJP in western Uttar Pradesh.
Members of the Chaubisa Rajput community spread across the Muzaffarnagar constituency mainly participated in the mahapanchayat, which was also attended by members of other Rajput communities from nearby districts.
