In protest against the incident, local people had blocked the road demanding action against the policeman. In view of the law and order situation, security has also been increased here. It can be seen in the video that a policeman is kicking people while offering namaz on the road. Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) MK Meena said, ‘In today’s incident, the police post in-charge seen in the video has been suspended with immediate effect. Necessary disciplinary action is also being taken.’ Meena said that as soon as the incident came to the notice, the police had started investigation in the matter.
Earlier in the day, the DCP met the protesters and assured them that strict action would be taken against the accused, an official said. At the same time, Delhi Pradesh Congress tweeted and termed the incident as “shameful”. The party posted and said, ‘Very shameful! Delhi Police personnel are kicking worshipers while offering namaz on the road. What could be more shameful than this?
While sharing the viral video, Congress leader Supriya Shrinet wrote, ‘The motto of Amit Shah’s Delhi Police is peace, service, justice… they are working with full dedication.’ Congress leader Imran Pratapgarhi also condemned the incident and said that Delhi Police should register a case against the police officer who kicked the Muslims offering Namaz. Imran wrote, ‘What is this hatred? This person probably does not understand the basic principles of humanity.
