Senior Congress leader Ajay Maken, while talking to the press, had informed that all the bank accounts of Congress have been frozen by the IT department.

कांग्रेस को बड़ी राहत, बैंक खातों पर लगी रोक बुधवार तक हटी पर मुश्किलें बरकरार

The Congress Party had taken the matter of freezing of all its bank accounts by the Income Tax Department to the IT Tribunal, but it did not get much relief from there either. In fact, the IT Tribunal lifted the ban on using the party’s bank accounts till Wednesday, but has put a condition which makes the word relief seem like a betrayal to the Congress.

Senior Congress leader Ajay Maken has given important information regarding the conditions with which the IT Tribunal has ordered the Congress Party to lift the ban on the use of bank accounts by Wednesday. He said that the Income Tax Tribunal has frozen Rs 115 crore in bank accounts. That means, except Rs 115 crore, the remaining amount can be used. Maken said that the Congress Party does not have that much money in its accounts. In such a situation, the party is asking the question for what reason has the relief been given?

Congress party presented its side in the court

Before Maken, Congress leader Vivek Tankha said in a video message that we expressed our views in the IT bench. We told the court that we have evidence and we cannot be punished disproportionately. Tankha said that how is the tax of Rs 115 crore payable on us? We want to debate this. The next hearing of the case will now be held on Wednesday.

All the accounts of Congress were frozen

Earlier, while talking to the press, senior Congress leader Ajay Maken had informed that all the accounts of Congress have been frozen by the IT department. He had also told that the bank accounts of Youth Congress have also been frozen. Targeting the Modi government at the Centre, he said that ‘Congress Party’s accounts have been frozen. The country has been locked down. Democracy has frozen. He asked that a few weeks are left for the announcement of Lok Sabha elections, in such a situation, what does the government want to prove by taking this step? He told that the Income Tax Department has sought recovery of Rs 210 crore.

The matter is related to income tax filing

Ajay Maken told that on the basis of income tax filing of the year 2018-19, a demand of crores of rupees has been made by the IT department. This is a matter of great shame, murder of democracy. Our bank accounts were frozen before the Lok Sabha elections. The Congress Party collects money from the Youth Congress through membership drives and those were also frozen.

Congress leader Ajay Maken said that the party was late in filing the returns. But 45 more days were given. He said that this does not mean that you freeze the account itself. He told that everything has been affected by this step of the IT department. There is no money to pay electricity bills or pay salaries.a
