Government scared of farmers’ protest, Delhi border converted to cantonment

After the announcement of farmers’ march to Delhi, all the borders of the capital Delhi have been converted into cantonments. In view of the farmers’ agitation on 13 February, Delhi Police has made special arrangements. Apart from all the borders of Delhi, more precautions are being taken at Singhu and Tikri borders.

Barricading has been done by Delhi Police at Tikri border ahead of the farmers’ ‘Delhi-Chalo’ protest. There are cement barricades on the roads. So that farmers can be prevented from entering Delhi. Police vehicles and barricades have been erected on the Ghazipur border.

In view of the farmers’ movement, traffic will be affected on many borders of Delhi. Section 144 will be applicable in North East Delhi as well as in areas like Farsh Bazar, Gandhi Nagar, Vivek Vihar, Seemapuri of Shahdara district.

what are the demands

The issue of farmers is the same which the United Kisan Morcha was raising. The biggest demand in this is the law guaranteeing minimum support price for crops. Apart from this, there is also the issue of concession in electricity rates and loan waiver.
