The Greater Chennai Police has arrested three people, including a 19-year-old woman, for honeytrap a techie. According to officials, the woman from Chennai’s MGR Nagar came in contact with a 37-year-old software engineer, who works in a senior position in an IT firm and lives with his family in Vyasarpadi.
After six months of being in touch over telephone, the woman called the technician to her home on Tuesday saying she was alone and her parents were away.
He reached her house and as soon as he went inside, the woman along with two youths captured the technician and demanded money from him. The gang threatened her that her clothes would be removed and her nude photograph would be circulated on social media. He asked for Rs 40 thousand and the technician transferred Rs 25 thousand.
He told the gang that he would make arrangements and give them more money, after which the gang allowed him to leave the house. From there the youth went straight to Vyasarpadi police station and lodged a complaint.
The police swung into action and arrested all three. Those arrested include the woman, her live-in partner Ezhumalai (24) and her friend Krishnan (25).
All three were produced in the magistrate court and sent to judicial custody.
