Japan has issued a tsunami warning after a 7.5 magnitude earthquake struck the northeastern region. According to reports, a 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck north central Japan on Monday, the first day of the new year.
The Japan Meteorological Agency has issued a tsunami warning for coastal areas of Ishikawa, Niigata and Toyama prefectures. Hokuriku Electric Power said it was investigating any irregularities at its nuclear power plants, NHK reported.
